Aloha Cousin,
Did you have a Happy Halloween? On Monday, we did Halloween activities. In Mrs, Oeser Rhein’s room, we did reader’s theater. In Mrs. Pitterino’s room, we made slime, mini lava lamps, and a tornado in a bottle. In Mrs. Robertson’s room, we learned about idioms, hyperboles, similes, metaphors, and personification. We did Mummy Math in Mr. Gildea’s room. You had to figure out different words with clues and solve riddles. Micheal and Eshwar won. With Ms. Staniszewski we made paper airplanes. Conner and Will’s went the farthest.

This week we have been working on narrative writing in ELA. In science we have been observing how plants grow and what they need to survive. In social studies, we are studying how and why the Europeans came to the Americas many years ago. On Wednesday, we had a math test about decimals and place value. On Thursday, an employee from The Museum Science gave a presentation on rocks and minerals. We learned about Igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. This week we have been voting for presidential candidates. Hillary Clinton has the most votes so far and only the fifth and sixth graders are allowed to vote.

Have a nice weekend,
                          Marin and Will
