Aloha parents,
This week in school has been full of learning and surprises. First of in math, we started to learn about area models they are tricky but it seems like everyone gets it just fine. Also, in math we are learning much more complex multi-digit by multi-digit multiplication and had a pop quiz on Thursday. In social studies we just learned about our new social studies project. For the project you need to study an old European explorer (like Christopher Columbus) and tell about his/her life as an explorer and their motivations. On Monday in gym we finally got to get in the gym and play on the new wood floor. The floor was redone and now better than ever. We were the 3rd class to get to try it out. In library we are working on doing internet searches that are more specific, we all seemed to get it from what we saw. In ELA we worked more on our narratives and dug deeper into showing emotions without just saying “I’m sad.” or “I’m mad.” also, we started to talk more about our book clubs and how we will meet in school and when we will meet. We started to talk more about character and how to identify someone's character traits and actions. We also talked how authors in books  identify the setting without telling us.  In science we started to learn about the human digestive system and how it all works as one to help our bodies get the nutrients they need from food. We also took a look at our worm habitat which we noticed the worms are getting to work and eating and doing what they do best. We had are open book I-check which is an check in on our I-Pad’s. This week our star student of the week is Yael.

          Aloha
