Aloha families,

This week is full of joy and fun! On Monday, we played a new activity called Quick Questions. Basically, a person asks any kind of question that is appropriate. The person has to ask the question as fast as he or she can to the person next to him or her. THAT person can’t answer or laugh at the question. Instead he or she has to ask another question to the person next in line. It continues like this. But anyone who answers or laughs in the game or stalls for a moment is out. Soon, the one and only person left in the game is the winner! In math, we got our Module 3&4 eureka workbooks. Our class learned about equivalent fractions. In Social Studies, we learned about the Jamestown Colony in Virginia. We watched videos and took notes while watching. Then we watched the show called Liberty Kids. In gym, we did gymnastics. In ELA, we learned our new spelling words of the week. Then, we talked about how characters change in the beginning and end in books.
On Tuesday, we played a game called Statues. A grave keeper counts to midnight while everybody else puts themselves in their positions. Everyone is as still as statues, until the grave keeper isn’t looking. But, the grave keeper tries to catch the “ Statues” moving. That “statue” is out of the game. If the “statues” talk, then he or she is out also. In technology, we first did a quiz on Kahoot for fun. Then we did another quiz, not really for fun. We did Ryan’s book talk. A book talk is pretty much like a book report. We continued to observe our natural disasters in groups of 2 or 3. Then we did read aloud. We read a book called The Wanderer. It is a very good book.
On Wednesday, we did Quick Questions again for our morning activity. Then we learned about common denominators in fractions at math class. We got our tests back. Our scores were pretty good. In science class, we did a lab. Our class got into groups and we tried to separate dry mixtures. In music class, we learned the “Habanera” beat on the bongo drums, maracas, and sticks. It was pretty cool. In ELA, we did Johnny’s book talk. Then we did more research on our natural disasters. Finally, we did read aloud.
On Thursday, we did What’s the news? as our greeting. Basically, people talk about what they were or are doing this weekend to the person next to them. Then, it was math class. Our class learned about finding common denominators in fractions with unlike denominators. In Social Studies, we learned more about the Jamestown Colony. We watched another long video, took notes too. In art, we drew spirals. Then we painted them with secondary colors. (Orange, purple, and green). In ELA, we did Cocoa Cafe, a time when our class drinks hot cocoa with marshmallows. After that, we did Abby’s book talk. After THAT, we met for our book club groups. That’s when we discuss what we are reading in the same book, and which page we stop. Each group reads a different book. We did our “I want to be remembered” stories or poems or… songs ( songs are optional). Finally, we did read aloud, we finished the book!!
We did our Aloha Frogs team meeting. In math, our class did Zearn. It is a website that has math videos and math problems for us to do. After math, we read a response on Google Classroom in science class. We answered a question after that. When it was gym time, we got into groups. Then we did some gymnastic moves. Soon, the boys did a pyramid, so did the girls. In ELA, we went to Mr. Colen’s office to learn more about resilience. After that, we did a spelling test. Then we packed up.
