Aloha Parents!                                                         2/3/17
We are going to update all of you about what has been going on in our classrooms.
In ELA we are continuing our disaster projects and most of us are all done with the researching part of it. Some of these disasters include:
  1. The Dust Bowl
  2. The Chicago Fire
  3. The 911
  4. Hurricane Katrina
  5. Halifax Explosion
  6. The Great Molasses flood
  7. The Exxon Valdez
Also in ELA we are sometimes working on a writing piece. It is supposed to say what we want to be remembered for. It can be a poem but it is the student's choice.

In math we are learning about adding and subtracting fractions by using the least common denominator strategy. There is a weird way to do it by using boxes but most of us think it is too confusing. We also had a pop quiz in math this week. It was only a double sided sheet though. It was all review on fractions. We are about 40 pages into the new Eureka book.
In social studies we are finishing our section on English Settlements. Right now students are working on study guides for the test. The main settlements we are paying attention to is Plymouth, Jamestown, and  Roanoke.

In science we made Kool Aid drinks to learn about concentration. We added more water to one cup and less to one. We added less Kool Aid mix to one and more to the other cup. We looked at the differences between the cups and drank some too!

That is what we have been doing this week in school! Hoppy weekend! From the aloha frogs!
